As a membership-based regional human rights organisation, FORUM-ASIA works to promote and protect all human rights including the right to development through collaboration and cooperation among human rights defenders and organisations in Asia.
Founded in 1991, FORUM-ASIA is committed to building an alternative society that is peaceful, just, equitable and ecologically sustainable; where all human rights of all individuals, groups and peoples—in particular, the poor, marginalised and discriminated people—are fully respected and realised in accordance with internationally accepted human rights norms and standards.

Summary of the Programme
The general goal of the project of ASEAN Advocacy is to create and secure spaces for civil society-ASEAN engagement that will hopefully result in ASEAN policies that concretely respond to issues of people in ASEAN and beyond. Secondary to that, there is a need to maintain a critical yet meaningful dialogue with ASEAN to transform the regional body into a genuine pro-people and pro-rights organization that is responsive and beneficial to the Southeast Asian peoples, in particularly with regards to the formation of the ASEAN human rights body and the three community councils, namely the political and security council, the economic council and the socio-cultural council.
The creation of a physical office with staff in Jakarta is aimed to enhance the close communication and cooperation with ASEAN that has its secretariat based in Jakarta.
Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting to the East Asia Program Manager (EA PM) and Executive Director (ED) in Bangkok, Thailand.
The ASEAN Advocacy Programme Officer shall:
Common Tasks
1. Oversee the maintenance of ASEAN liaison office in Jakarta.
2. Assist the EA PM to develop fundraising strategy to sustain the activity of the office.
3. Develop public communication strategies in relation to ASEAN-CSO engagement.
4. Provide updated information on ASEAN and CSO meetings and activity schedules
5. Establish and maintain the communication and relations with ASEAN key stakeholders such as embassies, media, governments, ASEAN secretariat, ASEAN foundation, National Human Rights institutions and civil society organisations.
6. Facilitate and coordinate the meetings of and among members and partners of SAPA with governments and other stake-holders.
7. Maintain effective working relations and communication with members and partners.
8. Produce statements and commentaries related to ASEAN and civil society.
9. Organise a press briefing or conference for media, public briefing sessions or side-events along with ASEAN meetings.
10. Update and maintain an organisational information and database
11. Organise the staff exchange or the internship programme among SAPA members in order to familiarise the ASEAN process.
12. Organise forums, trainings, meetings in cooperation with other programmes concerned
13. Assist EA PM to produce periodic progress reports- weekly, monthly, quarterly, half yearly and annual reports.

Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting directly to Programme Officer, Programme Associate shall:
I. Planning
Assist in the development of operational plans, project budgeting and Programme Implementation Plans (PIP)
II. Implementation
1. Assist in monitoring the implementation of the PIP and documents all facts and relevant information accordingly, and principally within the LFA framework.
2. Assist in organizing the activities, specifically in communicating with participants, preparing and coordinating logistical requirements with country partners, documenting proceedings and processes, among other things.
3. Assist in the information work of ASEAN Advocacy including writing articles, soliciting articles, among other tasks.
4. Assist in preparing communication materials such as synthesis documents, briefing papers, articles, and other such materials.
5. Carry out other tasks as may be assigned by the Programme Officer.
III. Reporting
Assist in preparing regular monitoring, mission, progress and activity reports as well as financial reports.
